NACCU Canada 2022 held virtually
NACCU Canada 2022 was held virtually June 8 – 9. After a warm welcome from Dawn Thomas, NACCU CEO, attendees learned the art of Leading Against the Current: The Secret to Resilience and Results During Challenging Times by keynote speaker Tim Arnold, along with the power of using the word AND. He spoke about measuring levels of curiosity, connection and courage; leadership tensions, and emphasized that courage is more important that comfort.
Tim Price, University of Waterloo presented “Card Technology”, Aesha Brown, Sheridan College, Ryan Burton, Humber College and Melissa Hannah, University of New Brunswick shared their experiences and recommendations on how to start the Mobile Credential journey. Jen McDonald, Georgian College and Jenn McNeill, University of Alberta led a panel discussion on Data Usage, and many contributed on what data to share (or not), when, and how.
Campuses engaged in a brag session, sharing some of their successes, wins and challenges from the past two years. We learned about intriguing off-campus partner programs, virtual line queuing, onboarding tools, updated training documents, locker and online photo implementations, and database clean ups.
Multiple roundtables yielded rich discussions that will continue as everyone expanded their network and resource base.
Andrew Hudson of CampusID News shared his thoughts on trends (mobile ordering, delivery robots, smart lockers, food insecurity, card issuance and mobile credentials, and payments) and modern challenges (card data analytics, staffing shortages, queuing, and supply chain issues) in our industry, with many attendees contributing to the robust conversation.
Special thanks to Jen McDonald, Georgian College, Jenn McNeill, University of Alberta, and Jörrun Liston, NACCU for organizing the conference and to everyone who tuned in and participated.
From an attendee: I wanted to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate you on what I experienced as an outstanding NACCU Canada virtual conference. Great discussion and sharing...which is what it is all about. Thanks again for organizing an amazing two days.
