Introduced in 2025, the Campus Card Champion Award recognizes individuals who have significantly advanced their campus card programs or credential offices. Through advocacy, dynamic collaboration, and strategic support, these champions have made outstanding contributions to their campuses—regardless of their official title or departmental affiliation.
NACCU received an impressive number of nominations for this inaugural award, each highlighting extraordinary dedication, innovation, and impact. The competition was fierce, and the accomplishments of all nominees were genuinely inspiring.
Recipient Sharon Webster is known for her visionary leadership and relentless pursuit of service excellence. She has spent nearly two decades transforming the role of the card office into an essential part of campus life. Her forward-thinking approach has led to major initiatives, from the launch of a secure and feature-rich Mobile ID, to developing systems that support transit access, and even card-controlled free vending for student health resources.
She’s collaborated across departments—housing, dining, public safety, IT, and student affairs—solving complex access, security, and data challenges. Through her mentorship, policy development, and willingness to explore the full potential of card data, she’s turned the campus card into far more than just an ID. Thanks to her dedication and innovation, it has become a dynamic tool for enhancing the student experience, supporting institutional goals, and driving the university forward.
