Meet your NACCU Volunteers: Ken Boyer
Meet your NACCU Volunteers:
Ken Boyer
This is the latest installment of the NACCU series highlighting our association volunteers. NACCU provides programs and services to our members, many which would not be possible without the dedication and commitment of our volunteer leaders. Volunteers, whether they are a committee member, a Board member, or an onsite volunteer at a conference, are all important in making NACCU volunteer-driven programs an exceptional experience for our card industry peers.

What is your role at your institution?
I am the Associate Vice President for Auxiliary Services. I am responsible for the development management, strategic planning, and coordination of services provided by the Division of Auxiliary Services. This includes Campus Card Services, Campus Stores, Real Estate-Property Management, Vending, Mail and Document Services, CCTV Security Cameras, Alarm Services, and Cable Television.
Where was the first NACCU conference you attended held?
My first NACCU Conference was in 1996 and it was held at the Clarion Hotel in Orlando, Florida.
What do you like about volunteering with NACCU?
I enjoy networking with different people and learning from them. At that same time, I get to share my knowledge and learn their story as well.
What show are you binge-watching right now?
I just finished watching 1923 season 1, and getting ready to start season 2.
What was your least favorite food as a child, and do you still dislike it now?
When I was a child, I did not like broccoli or Brussels sprouts. I enjoy both of these vegetables now, but the Brussels sprouts have to be grilled.
What was you favorite memory from when you were a student?
I personally became a snow-skiing and golfing nut while in college at Appalachian State University. I also have fond memories working in both college and commercial radio during my years in Boone.
What is your favorite place of all the places you have traveled?
It is hard to pick just one - I have a few that standout. While serving on the Board of Directors of NACCU, I had the opportunity to travel to the Netherlands to attend the 2018 ECCA Conference hosted by Wageningen University. The trip to the Netherlands and a couple of trips to the Hawaiian Islands along with a trip to British Columbia to ski have all been memorable.
You can have an unlimited supply of one thing for the rest of your life. What is it?
Assuming food and water are not a concern... I would choose luck.
