Meet Your NACCU Volunteers: Emmally Evans

Your NACCU Volunteers,

Meet your NACCU Volunteers:
Emmally Evans

This is the latest installment of the NACCU series highlighting our association volunteers. NACCU provides programs and services to our members, many which would not be possible without the dedication and commitment of our volunteer leaders. Volunteers, whether they are a committee member, a Board member, or an onsite volunteer at a conference, are all important in making NACCU volunteer-driven programs an exceptional experience for our card industry peers.

Campus Card Information

Name: Emmally Evans

School: University of Oregon

Volunteer Role: Engagement Committee

What is your role at your institution?

I am the ID Card Services Manager at the University of Oregon. I oversee one professional staff member and about ten student staff members. We coordinate all ID Card and Badge printing, Campus Cash, Campus Cash readers, a food security program, and more. Our set-up is interesting; I partner with Access Control to do slight help with academic building and housing access separately, and a whole lot of problem solving.

When did you join NACCU?

I joined NACCU in 2023. I attended the 2024 conference in Covington, KY for the first time, and I have been trying to get more involved ever since! I am planning on going to the next conference as well, and I can't wait to see everyone!

What do you like about volunteering with NACCU?

I like helping others and connecting with people in the same field. It's nice to have a community of those going through the same thing, and I want to be able to give back in the same way. It also helps keep me updated on the larger idea of what is happening on other campuses and keeps me engaged in what is happening with NACCU.

If you could bring back one fashion trend, what would it be?

Bell Bottoms. I love those pants, and I hope everyone wears them the second they become popular again. They look great on everyone and are so fun!

If you had to delete all but three apps from your smartphone, what would you keep?

I would definitely keep Facebook Messenger; that is the app my whole family uses to communicate. TikTok is next. I used to hate the app, but I use it the most now. And then it would be Kindle. I read just enough that I would be mad about it.

If you had 25 hours in a day, how would you use your extra time?

Hopefully just relaxing. I'd like to build it in at the end of my day, so if I could get off work and it's only 4pm instead of 5pm. That would give me a free hour to work out. Then I would have more time to just be home with my partner and not constantly trying to do something productive.

What skill do you think everyone should have?

At this point, some basic AI knowledge. Even if it is just ChatGPT, which is the main thing I have experience in. It has problems, and there are many debates surrounding it, but it also has many practical uses. It's a direction most places are headed, so the more experience you can get while it is still up-and-coming, the better.
