Phoenix, AZ – April 25, 2024 – NACCU is honored to recognize Markus Quon, Manager, Housing IT at the University of California, Irvine, as the recipient of the NACCU 2024 New Professional Award. John Diaz, VP of Point-of-Sale Solutions from NACCU Visionary Sponsor Transact, presented the award to Markus during the Awards Luncheon at the NACCU 2024 Annual Conference in Covington, Kentucky on April 17, 2024.
The NACCU New Professional Award recognizes an individual with five or fewer years in the campus identification and transaction system profession who has made significant contributions to their institution, the industry and to the association during their relatively short time in their position.
Every year we see NACCU grow and change, with the addition of new professionals stepping into the world of higher education credentials. Emerging new professionals bring with them fresh ideas, new and different insight on the landscape within which we operate, and a further addition to the beautifully diverse tapestry which is NACCU.
Markus Quon joined NACCU in 2021. He has been characterized as open and willing to head in a new direction without hesitation, and possesses an amazing ability to open his thinking to new possibilities and manage the constant change of evolution while remaining resilient and courageous in the face of the unknown. Markus was crucial to the team in deciding which technology platform would best serve the campus, and created a roadmap for Student Housing to consolidate around a standard that would be secure but flexible enough in the future to allow for mobile. Markus has attended and presented at several conferences, including the NACCU 2024 Annual Conference. In his short time working in our industry, he has already earned a reputation as a sought out professional.
