Jeanine Brooks Honored with the NACCU J. Paul Melanson Award
Phoenix, AZ – May 6, 2022 – NACCU is proud to announce Jeanine Brooks from the University of Alabama has been presented with the NACCU J. Paul Melanson Award.
The J. Paul Melanson award is named in honor of one of the founders of NACCU. This award is presented to members our community who have spurred the growth of the campus card industry, been pioneers in campus cards, significantly and freely helped NACCU members to implement or advance systems on their campuses, or been instrumental in the growth and stability of NACCU. Recipients of this award are identified by the NACCU Board of Directors at their discretion and this award is not presented every year.
This year’s award is being presented to a forward-thinking individual who has been a trailblazer in the campus card industry. Her work initially began on her campus in the telecommunications department. After ten years, as the telecommunications department continued to grow, Jeanine and others were moved to a newly created university card office. Jeanine brought a passion to her job, striving to grow the campus card. She was intent on listening to students, faculty, and staff on how to make cards more user-friendly and accessible, and to better meet the needs of the campus clients.
In the last few years, Jeanine has greatly impacted our industry by working on ideas, concepts, and direction to drive home the necessity of the development of a mobile credential. She spent countless hours working with colleagues on internal development, scripting, testing, and programming all to make this possible. In 2018, the University of Alabama was one of the first universities in the world to create a completely digital campus credential for Apple products.
While Jeanine is a tremendous asset to her campus, she is also a remarkable advocate for NACCU. She has given tirelessly to our association, presenting at conferences and on webinars. She has served on the Board of Directors, and as a faculty member for the SAGs program, and she is seen as a maven within our industry.
NACCU is honored to recognize Jeanine Brooks from The University of Alabama with the J. Paul Melanson Award. Jeanine is the first woman to be recognized with this accolade.
