In this latest installment of our New Member Highlight, we catch up with Mary McCauley  from new NACCU member Apriva.

Talk about the history of your company.

Apriva payments was founded in 2003 and is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. We have been at the forefront of secure payment solutions for more than two decades, with a strong emphasis on payment gateway services that deliver reliability, flexibility, and security. We have specialized in campus card transactions for over 10 years, working with the campus card processors, to help hundreds of campuses modernize their payments ecosystems.

What does your company do?

Apriva provides a secure, flexible payment gateway that allows organizations to accept campus or debit and credit transactions from virtually any device, on virtually any processor. Our mission is to make payments smarter and more accessible, whether in traditional environments or fully unattended ones like vending, micro-markets, smart coolers, parking, and EV charging. With a focus on security, flexibility, and long-term partnership, Apriva empowers businesses and campuses to meet today's needs while planning for tomorrow.

What products and services do you provide specifically to campus card operations?

        Apriva connects campus card programs to a wide variety of purchase points across campus environments — including:

        • Vending machines
        • Smart coolers
        • Micro-markets
        • Laundry rooms
        • Parking systems
        • Point-of-sale devices
        • Ecommerce websites
        • Self-service kiosks

        Through our secure, processor-agnostic payment gateway, we enable campuses to accept campus ID cards and digital wallets at both attended and unattended locations. We integrate seamlessly with major campus card platforms — including Transact, CBORD, Atrium, Touchnet, QuickCharge, and ITC Systems — supporting flexible payment methods such as:

        • Declining balance accounts
        • Preloaded funds
        • Payroll deduction
        • Mobile wallet integrations

        By offering a centralized and secure connection for all types of purchases, Apriva helps campuses expand payment acceptance, improve user convenience, lower transaction costs, and future-proof their payment strategies.

        Is there a new product or service you want to tell us about?

        We are excited to highlight Apriva Secure 4G — a high-performance, affordable connectivity solution for payment devices on campus. Apriva Secure 4G provides secure wireless communication with nationwide carrier coverage, making it easier and more affordable for campuses to deploy and manage unattended payment solutions without relying on campus Wi-Fi or Ethernet. It’s an ideal solution for vending, micro-markets, and other emerging unattended concepts across campus environments.

        What are you hoping to gain from your NACCU membership?

        Apriva is excited to partner with the NACCU community to support the future of campus commerce. We’re here to listen, learn, and collaborate — helping campuses meet the evolving expectations of students and staff around convenience, mobility, and security. Apriva is proud to already support over 600 campuses nationwide, with more than 700 merchants and software providers accepting campus cards through our gateway today. We process over 7.7 million campus card transactions annually, representing over $27 million in campus card volume. Through our NACCU membership, we hope to continue building strong partnerships with campus communities, learn about emerging needs in the student payment experience, and help campuses future-proof their payment solutions with secure, scalable technology.
