NACCU 2017 Updates

Conference registrations are rolling in at NACCU 2017, and we are still bringing in new exhibitors too. You'll see some companies who are new to the NACCU exhibit hall, so be sure to stop by their booths and welcome them and tell them you are glad they joined us! If you have a vendor who isn't exhibiting, please reach out to them.

Some room nights have sold out at Disney's Contemporary Resort, so the Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is our alternate hotel.

Educational sessions are now listed by block so you can decide which session to attend in each block. We recommend attending at least one roundtable session and at least one Gold session. Our Gold sessions are presented by our Gold level corporate members who do a lot to support NACCU.

Speaking of those who support NACCU, our conference simply wouldn't be possible if not for our sponsors. If your vendor is on this list, please thank them. If your vendor is not on this list, ask them to contact Dawn at and discuss sponsorship opportunities.

The NACCU 2017 Annual Conference is a big event that takes many hands to bring together. We're seeking onsite volunteers to help at the registration desk, as greeters on the first day to provide directions, and with the Fun Run in a variety of roles. Please consider donating an hour or two of your time. Sign Up Now

We look forward to seeing you in April!

From the Executive Director: Where is NACCU Going?
Dawn Thomas, Executive Director of NACCU

It is mid-February, and we have less than six weeks until the NACCU 2017 Annual Conference – Today. Tomorrow. & Beyond. Quite an appropriate segue for recent happenings.

Today… As I sit here eight months into this position with NACCU, it is even more clear the commitment from leadership and volunteers to plan and grow your association. Plan new, plan structure, plan committees, plan programs, plan differently, grow content, grow volunteer participation, grow membership, grow business partner involvement, grow feedback opportunities – all with the intent of improving the value and services to members and staying relevant in a field where things do not remain the same for a long period of time.

Tomorrow… While intent is important, action is crucial. Changes within office operations and leadership meetings have been on-going and will continue throughout the next year. Video staff calls, office relocation, digital filing, team planning processes, Board strategic retreat, advanced multi-year RFP process, restructured budget process, new value proposition – with the goal of working smarter for our organization so we can dedicate more time and service to you! But that is the tip of the iceberg.

This next year promises to be one with new programs, services and opportunities – there will be challenges and risks, with hard questions to answer regarding the direction of NACCU. We will push the envelope on how the organization evolves and becomes more relevant in the digital/mobile ID era. Some of our work may be catch-up but we need to plan for the future now. What will our partnerships look like? What will the industry look like? How will your campus offices and services be different? How will students expect to use your services ten years down the road? We need to talk about this now in the context of the NACCU value proposition: NACCU provides members with direct access to a comprehensive network of transaction and credentialing resources to integrate and streamline campus operations, enhancing the student experience.

BeyondFor those members that follow NACCU on social media, you may have already seen a few pictures that were posted as a small number of staff and leadership made expedient trips over two weeks in January to review a number of potential future annual conference sites. Let us catch you up!

Last fall, NACCU submitted an RFP to over 35 potential cities (120 potential conference locations) to bid on the NACCU Annual Conference. NACCU received bids from 37 sites within those cities. After review of the proposals by a site selection team, recommendations for potential locations were given to the Board in October and were approved. We were able to tour a total of ten potential conference venues in eight different cities, and we have some great options available to us. We are grateful to the cities of Atlanta, Austin, Covington, Dallas, Grapevine, Hartford, Memphis, and St. Louis for sticking with our tight travel schedule and allowing the “space to sell itself”. Check out the photos we have included and see if you can identify the locations. NACCU will submit a final recommendation for the 2019-2023 conference locations on the March Board call.

As we continue on this journey, I hope you will call me with ideas and suggestions as we plan for Today. Tomorrow. & Beyond.
