NACCU New Member Highlight:
Ontario Tech University
In this New Member Highlight, we catch up with Vicky Paterson with new NACCU member Ontario Tech University.
What is your position/title?
Information and Client Services Coordinator II – campus card
How long have you been at your institution?
I began working at Ontario Tech in 2014 as a University Works student. Upon graduation in 2017, I began working full-time in the Office of the Registrar. In May 2019, I was given the opportunity to help coordinate the transition of campus ID services to our frontline in the Office of the Registrar.
What are you most hoping to gain from joining the NACCU community?
When I took on this position in May, the NACCU organization was brought to my attention by several institutions who I was speaking with regarding their card programs. I attended the NACCU Canadian Campus Card Conference in June and learned more than I could have imagined. I hope to continue learning about card programs and procedures from other institutions as we work to build our own onecard program at Ontario Tech.
Are you considering moving to the mobile credential? If not, what is the next planned initiative for your campus card program?
The mobile credential is of interest as we are a tech-focused university, however this would need to be phased in over time due to our current infrastructure and policies surrounding identity verification. For now, we are looking to create a more robust onecard program.
What is one feature you wish you could add to your campus card program?
We are looking to add online photo upload to our campus card program.
What system(s) platforms does your campus card program use?
We are an Ellucian Banner institution and currently we use EPI Suite Guardcard for card printing.
Does your program have social media links? If so, share so we can follow you!
Unfortunately, our card program does not have any social media links at the moment, however, as we continue to transition and build on our program this is something we will be looking into!
We hope you enjoyed learning a little about Vicky and Ontario Tech University as we welcome them to the NACCU community!
