Meet Your NACCU Volunteers: Leslie Safadi

October 16, 2019

This is the latest installment of the NACCU series highlighting our association volunteers. NACCU provides programs and services to our members, many which would not be possible without the dedication and commitment of our volunteer leaders. Volunteers, whether they are a committee member, a Board member, or an onsite volunteer at a conference, are all important in making NACCU volunteer-driven programs an exceptional experience for our card industry peers.

Campus Card Information:

Name: Leslie Safadi

School: University of Colorado-Boulder, Boulder, CO

Professional Role: Front Desk Office Manager, Housing & Technology Services

Volunteer Role: Member, Awards Committee

What is your role at your institution?

I assist in the day-to-day operations of our Campus Card Office. I am also the Conference Services Liaison managing the access and meal plans for 15,000+ summer conference attendees, the Building Proctor for our 450,000 s.f. building, and serve as a representative on Staff Council.

Where was the first NACCU conference you attended?

My first NACCU conference was in San Francisco in 2016. I was new to the card industry and was so impressed by how welcoming everyone was.

What is your favo(u)rite thing about volunteering with your NACCU committee?

My favorite thing about volunteering is being able to work with all the fabulous people on the Awards Committee. I really encourage everyone to volunteer on a committee. It's a great networking opportunity, and a chance to form lifelong friendships.

What show are you binge-watching right now?

Right now, I am binge-watching Downton Abbey. I want to see the movie this weekend.

What is your go-to coffee / tea order?

Starbucks Frappuccino. It does not matter which flavor - I love them all.

What is your favo(u)rite memory from when you were a student?

I would have to say my favorite memory is hanging out with my friends at the Penn State Diner at 3:00am on a Saturday morning.

What is one thing that would surprise people about you?

I live on a farm. We have six horses, 30 chickens, 27 goats, plus numerous other animals.

What is your favo(u)rite thing about fall?

I probably should say all the beautiful fall foliage, but honestly, the first thing that popped into my head when I read this question was that the flies FINALLY die. (horses + goats + chickens = millions of flies!)

We hope you have enjoyed learning about Leslie! Please look for a new edition of "Meet Your NACCU Volunteers" in a few weeks.
