NACCU Web Conference:
The Many Hats Worn by a Campus Card Director

December 3, 2019
1:00PM Atlantic / 12:00PM Eastern / 11:00AM Central / 10:00AM Mountain / 9:00AM Pacific

What core competencies must a successful campus card director possess in today's higher education environment?  Gone are the days when card services managers were in charge of just the technology.  Today, campus card leaders must be proficient in areas of IT, marketing, communications, data security, planning, budgeting, legal and ethical compliance, along with the hiring and professional development of student, part-time and full-time employees.

What are some of the core competencies needed to succeed in the campus card industry?
What are the trends in employee development?
What's new in the arena of acceptable trade practices?
What are some of the evolutionary trends we have seen with the campus card itself?

Mikhail Ilin, Suffolk University

Having served since 1997 in various roles (student, security officer, staff assistant, technical support specialist, systems administrator and now manager of Campus Card Services), Mikhail has experience challenges encountered by students, employees and other stakeholders when dealing with a decentralized card services unit.  He transitioned the campus card services unit into a more centralized one-stop service organization prepared to resolve any and all problems students may have with the card.  Mikhail hold a BS in Computer Information Systems, a Masters of Business Administration and a Juris Doctor degree from Suffolk University.  As an adjunct faculty member at the Sawyer School of Management at Suffolk University, Mikhail teaches Business Law and Ethics courses.
