Two Universities Form Relationships With U.S. Bank

Bellarmine University has chosen U.S. Bank to be its bank partner for the school’s multi-use identification card.

The Bellarmine OneCard which allows Bellarmine’s 2,400 students and more than 200 faculty and staff members to check out resources from campus libraries, purchase meals without cash, and gain access to campus fitness facilities and other amenities. The new card can also be used as a U.S. Bank ATM card on and off campus and at many merchant terminals in the United States that accept Visa.

"Students, faculty and staff will find the Bellarmine OneCard so convenient, they’ll wonder how they got along without it," said Joy A. Hatch, Ph.D./Ed.D., Bellarmine University. "The Bellarmine OneCard is not only convenient, it saves Bellarmine University money."

"We’re very pleased to partner with Bellarmine University for their Bellarmine OneCard," said Mark F. Wheeler, regional market president for U.S. Bank in Louisville. "U.S. Bank’s Campusbank Card services will expand the cashless environment on campus, which means added convenience and safety to the people who use it. We look forward to providing even more value to Bellarmine University in the future."

Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) and U.S. Bank have also formed a private-public partnership to offer MSUM students, faculty and staff members a special multi-use identification card.

The Dragon Card, as it’s called, will serve as the school’s official identification card, providing easy access to facilities and services such as meal purchases and access to events. With the partnership between MSUM and U.S. Bank, the Dragon Card can be linked to a U.S. Bank Student Checking account starting November 2003 and used as an ATM card on and off campus.

It can also be used as a debit card at any store that accepts Visa transactions where the card holder uses their PIN. In addition, a monthly statement will provide a summary of account activity, so students can keep track of their spending and cash withdrawals.

"When the possibilities of this card were discussed with us, it was obvious that this would be a wonderful tool for MSUM," said Roland Barden, president of MSUM. "It will simplify campus life and provide some safety features that parents of students are bound to appreciate."

"We are excited to have a dynamic partner like MSUM to work with. MSUM has recognized the benefits the multi-purpose card offers and the value that U.S. Bank can add," stated Ronald Robson, U.S. Bank president in Fargo-Moorhead.
