Syracuse
University to install Odyssey
The CBORD Group, Inc., the leading provider of campus card systems announces
their newest client, Syracuse University. Syracuse University has signed a
contract to begin installation of their new campus-wide card system, Odyssey PCS
(Privilege Control System), beginning in Summer 2003. Syracuse joins almost 600
CBORD cashless system customers across North America, such as Brown University,
Yale University, Kansas State University, University of New Mexico, and The
University of Western Ontario.
Syracuse University, known more recently across North America for winning the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship, has 13 colleges/schools with a total enrollment of 18,072 students. The University also provides ID Cards and privileges for The State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry and its 3000 faculty, staff and students. The beginning stages of the Syracuse Odyssey PCS installation include 40 new Micros 3700 terminals for resident and student union dining facilities. Concessions within the Carrier Dome will be automated so that students can use their ID cards to purchase food and souvenirs. Getting clean clothes will be easier as laundry rooms will have fully integrated ID card payment capabilities.
David Kohr, Director of Housing, Meal Plan & I.D. Card Services states, "Syracuse University was an early adopter of the "one card" concept beginning in 1982. During the past year we made a decision to upgrade our POS systems to Micros devices and have found CBORD to be a leader in providing an integrated card system that meets our current needs for flexibility and for future support as we consider implementation of new concepts."
Bruce Lane, Vice President for The CBORD Group, Inc. adds, "We are very happy to have the opportunity to serve and support Syracuse University with their new campus-wide card endeavor. Being selected to provide a state-of-the-art system for such a large, campus-wide application is a good testament to the flexibility and power of CBORD’s Odyssey Privilege Control System". - The CBORD Group
