NACCU 2018 Conference Tips and Information
As you prepare to attend NACCU 2018, please read through this information to ensure the best possible experience while at the conference. Also, please follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook, as we will be sharing photos and information before and throughout the conference.
The information on this page can also be found in the Tips & Info section of the Mobile Event App, available for download by April 2, 2018.
There is no official dress code for the conference. You'll see everything from flip flops to full business suits.
But most attendees wear business casual attire. You probably want to bring a light jacket or sweater to sessions with you in case meeting rooms are chilly. Be sure to also bring some comfortable shoes for the NACCU Fun Walk/Run.
Bring some logo clothing to wear to the opening reception on Sunday night. Sunday is Wear your Colors! day - show off your school's colors, sports team, or even your card office logo! Sweatshirt, hat, jersey, jacket, T-shirt - whatever you want to wear to show off your school!
The average high temperature in late April is in the mid-60s, with an average low around 40 degrees. There is also a chance of rain during this time of year.
Upon arrival at the NACCU registration desk, you will receive:
Your badge packet, which will include
Your badge, which you will need for ALL conference events and sessions, including NACCU Night Out. Your badge will include a bar code, which will be used to scan you into events and sessions.
Badges for your guest(s) if you purchased guest ticket(s).
Any badge ribbons that apply to you. Please affix your ribbon(s) to the bottom of your badge pouch.
A ticket to enter the prize drawing in the exhibit hall. Bring it to the NACCU booth on Wednesday morning, and throw it in the tumbler.
The following items are optional. We have received feedback that some attendees wish to pass on receiving these items, in order to be green or because they are not needed. If you do not want one or more of these items, simply let us know during registration check-in.
A conference padfolio (optional)
A printed conference program (optional)
A water bottle (optional, although if you would like to be able to access water at the stations throughout the conference, we encourage you to take one.)
Conference tote bag (optional)

You will be able to view attendees and session handouts in the NACCU 2018 Mobile Event App or on the NACCU 2018 website.
We will be updating the files with the latest versions throughout the conference.
The attendee roster will be available for download.

View your transportation options on the NACCU 2018 website here. The Peppermill features an easy and convenient airport shuttle which departs from the valet area outside the Hotel Lobby, and runs every half-hour beginning at 4 am. The last shuttle departs from the Peppermill going to the airport at 11:30 pm. In addition, the airport shuttle departs from the airport going to the Peppermill every half-hour beginning at 4:15 am, and continuing to 11:45 pm. This shuttle picks-up at the North exit of the Baggage Claim area. The shuttle is first-come, first-served and it can fill quickly. If the shuttle is full, a taxi ride is around $10. Uber is also available.
The NACCU registration desk is located in the Tuscany tower.
The Opening Reception will be held in the Edge Nightclub at the top of the Peppermill Tower.
To get to the Tuscany Tower and the Conference Registration Desk:
Take the escalator to the left of hotel registration
Go left at the top of the escalator
Follow the hallway, and continue between Biscotti's and the Terrace Lounge
The elevators to Tuscany Tower rooms will be in front of you to your right.
The NACCU 2018 reg desk will be ahead near the end of the foyer.
To get to the Peppermill Tower and the Edge Nightclub, site of the Opening Reception: -
Take the same escalator up, but instead of turning left at the top of the escalator, turn right.
Follow the hallway. When you see the sign for the spa, the Peppermill Tower elevators will be to your right
OR - From the hotel lobby/ground floor, take the elevators to the RIGHT of the hotel registration desk.
The NACCU 2018 conference will be held on-site at the Peppermill Reno Resort Spa Casino. These maps are also available in the NACCU 2018 Mobile Event App - with pins to find conference event locations.
Traveling with Guests
If you are traveling with unregistered guest(s), here are a few tips to make sure they know what to expect.
You are welcome to use NACCU's twitter feed to organize meet-ups for conference attendees as well as guests. Use and follow hashtag #naccu.
Guest tickets are available for the Opening Reception, Awards Luncheon, NACCU Night Out, and tours, but space is limited. Guest tickets can be purchased online, or at the On-Site Registration window at the conference registration desk. You may also purchase any of these guest tickets through Janice at email@example.com. Guest tickets are limited.
Unregistered guests will not have access to NACCU 2018 conference events, except as outlined above.
The NACCU Mentor Program for First-Time Attendees
The Mentor Program is available to all first-time conference attendees. If you would like a mentor to help guide you through the conference and help you make connections with other attendees, please attend the Mentor/Assigned Meet and Greet.
You are invited to attend the Mentor/Assigned Attendee Meet and Greet at 6:30 PM on Sunday, April 22, where you will meet other first-timers and mentors, and will go on to the Opening Reception as a group.

Sunday Pre-Conference Area Tour
Participants will be transported from Reno along US 395 through Washoe Valley into the State Capitol, Carson City., on to Lake Tahoe, where there will be short stops to take photos and look at the scenery. We will have lunch at a Tahoe City restaurant and explore. Then we'll stop at the memorial at Donner Summit to learn about the infamous Donner Party, one of the early wagon trains who spent a desperate winter on the shores of Donner Lake, trying to reach California. Guests can view the museum while there.
Our Convention Activities guide will narrate and point out interesting sights along the way.

Participants will meet in the East Vestibule across from the NACCU 2018 registration desk for departure at 8:30AM.
The Opening Reception will be held at The Edge nightclub in the Peppermill Tower, from 7:00PM - 8:30PM.

NACCU Fun Walk/Run
NACCU is excited to invite you to our annual Fun Walk/Run at 6:30AM on Tuesday, April 24. Please join us, even if you have no experience. It's all about having fun and starting the day with high energy. Those who attend the Fun Walk/Run will receive a T-shirt as a memento.
Tuesday Annual Business Meeting
The 2018 Annual Business Meeting will include all the usual items. You'll participate in the Board of Directors election, vote on changes to the By-Laws, and observe the "exchanging of the gavel" as the outgoing Board President hands the reins to the incoming President. You'll approve last year's meeting minutes and review NACCU's financial position. These files will be available as handouts in the mobile app under the event "Annual Business Meeting".
Exhibit Hall Prize Drawing
We will be holding drawings for the following exciting prizes throughout exhibit hall time on Wednesday morning. To be included, please bring the entry ticket in your badge pouch and drop it into the tumbler at the NACCU booth on Wednesday morning.

Session Categorization & Seating
Educational sessions are categorized using NACCU's Core Competencies for the Campus Card Professional.
Proficiency in these competencies will enable campus card professionals to demonstrate expertise and gain a higher level of recognition on their respective campuses and industry wide. The Core Competencies form the foundation for future endeavors as NACCU frames professional development activity, establishes standards of practice and helps guide individual career development for campus card professionals.

In addition, sessions are categorized by level: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. These levels will assist you in scheduling sessions that are right for you.
Session Attendance and Seating:
We recommend bringing a sweater or light jacket to sessions as meeting rooms can be chilly.
If it is important to you to attend a specific session, be sure to arrive early to ensure you get a seat. We also encourage you to please take a seat near the front of the room, so that latecomers can slip into the back seats.
If you require ADA accommodations for seating, please note when you register for the conference, or notify us if you need assistance.
NACCU Night Out at the National Bowling Stadium
End your conference experience with an exciting evening of celebration with your fellow conference attendees!
You don't have to be a bowler to have a blast at this event. The only stadium of its kind in the entire world and home of national bowling championships, the National Bowling Stadium brings the classic sport of bowling to the exciting landscape of downtown Reno.
At the Stadium, you can enjoy 78 championship lanes, the Lane 81 Pro Shop, Stadium Club with a full-service bar, large screen TV, pool table and a spectacular view of the downtown corridor, and more. The National Bowling Stadium also boasts the longest video screen in the world, displaying videos and graphics on 440 feet of screen.
Additionally, this is where Bill Murray threw three strikes in a row and Woody Harrelson bowled with a rubber hand in the movie "Kingpin".

Bring your conference badge and ID with you to board the bus. Make sure guests have badges as well.
Items in Your Room
You may receive candy, newsletters, postcards, invitations, or other items from exhibitors in your hotel room while attending the conference. Please know that these items are placed by hotel employees, not by conference administrators or vendors.
Did you pick up something that you don't have room for in your luggage? Brought a book /magazine and you're done with it? Leave it on the recycle table by the registration desk, or find a treasure for yourself!
NACCU Best Card Design & Best Video Award Voting
Look for the Awards Committee at the NACCU booth in the Exhibit Hall on Tuesday to vote for your favorite Best Card Design Award and Best Video Award finalists. The recipients will be announced at the Awards Luncheon on Wednesday!
