The National Association of Campus Card Users (NACCU) was formed to serve the educational and resource needs of colleges' and universities' campus card users. NACCU encourages those firms that are or will be involved, in some manner, with college and university campus cards to join NACCU as "Corporate Associates." Eligible for membership as "Corporate Associates" are those who manufacture, sell or service hardware; providers of software systems and/or access systems; financial managers, banking institutions and financial aid organizations that provide services for card systems supporting colleges and universities; and card system planners and system consultants to higher education.

As the authoritative organization for the collection and dispersion of information regarding the latest developments and issues in card systems, NACCU currently has more than 800 members representing over 350 higher education institutions in the United States and Canada, and numbers continue to increase. NACCU keeps abreast of the knowledge base, technological changes, and options for institutional members. NACCU communicates through a regularly published newsletter (CardTalk), the NACCU-L listserve on the Internet (for only the higher education institutional members), and special e-mail communications to Corporate Associate members via the "corpassoc" e-mail list. The organization also maintains a library of reference materials, and communicates frequently with card system experts within the college and university membership who share their knowledge.

The NACCU Board of Directors has recently updated the Corporate Associate program in order to attract a larger number of vendors to the organization. The new program has been developed not only to allow for membership of both large and small corporations and consultants, but also to get the corporate members more heavily involved with the association.
