Tim
Aaron has been involved in the campus card industry since 1985 as a
student and university administrator at Duke University, product manager
at Wells Fargo, and as Executive Director at College Enterprises Inc. (CEI).
With the merger of CEI
Special Teams and AT&T CampusWide, Tim has joined the management
team at Blackboard Transaction Systems where he serves as an executive
consultant. At
Duke, Tim assisted in the development of one of the most comprehensive
campus card programs in the nation.
Tim was responsible for the development and management of the
card office infrastructure until he returned to graduate school in 1992. Upon
receiving an MBA and a Masters of Planning in 1995, Tim joined the
Campus Card Group at Wells Fargo Bank and was part of a dynamic
management team that developed and implemented integrated ID/ATM cards. At
CEI and Blackboard, Tim oversaw the growth and management of a
consulting and project management group offering a suite of services
designed for campuses interested in realizing the benefits of a highly
comprehensive campus card system. |
Tor Baekkelund, VingCard PERSONA

Tor
Baekkelund is Vice President of the Commercial division PERSONA within
the VingCard Worldwide Group. VingCard is the leading provider of
advanced Stand-alone Locking solutions serving almost 15,000 customers
in 135 countries. Prior to the position Tor served as Director at
VingCard Worldwide HQ with responsibilities of R&D, Product
Management and Manufacturing. Tor has successfully implemented new
operational strategies within the VingCard group headquarter also
managing complex tasks to improve operational effectiveness. He has been
a part of the ASSA ABLOY Management Program evaluating and proposing new
business strategies within several core locking business areas within
the ASSA ALBOY group in France, South East Asia and Scandinavia. During
the five year employment within the ASSA Abloy group Tor has established
a strong cross-functional product, sales and distribution knowledge
concerning advanced Stand-alone locking solutions for the commercial
markets. Prior to the employment at VingCard Tor had different
International management positions for large Projects in Africa &
China. VingCard PERSONA is a part of The World Leading Locking group ASSA ABLOY AB. Tor received his master's degree at teh Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH) in Mechanical Engineering. The first year after the study he started and co-headed a research project concerning environmental friendly product studies. |
Larry Kontz, Blackboard Inc.

Kontz is the National Sales Director at Blackboard Inc. He spent the
past four years working with campuses and corporate customers evaluate
and planning for the installation of Blackboard's OPTIM / Envision
One-Card Platform(s). Prior
to working for Blackboard He worked in higher Education at a varied of
campuses such as Western State College of Colorado, St. Mary's College
of Maryland and Arizona State University. |

Tom Bell is Vice President of Industry
Relations at Blackboard Inc., the leading provider of e-Education
software and services for higher education.
Blackboard provides course, community and commerce applications
to more than 1,800 institutions worldwide.
Prior to this Tom served as Executive Director of Campus
Auxiliary Services, Inc. at the State University of New York at Geneseo.
He has conducted dozens of seminars on ID technology, debit card
systems, electronic imaging and other technologies for a variety of
professional groups. These
include NACAS, NACCU, NACUBO and Card Tech/Secur Tech.
Tom served NACAS as Workshop Leader and Instructor for twelve
1-day "All Campus Card" workshops. Tom has been active in a variety of professional and volunteer organizations. He served as President of the SUNY Auxiliary Services Association as well as Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer of this statewide organization. He was Chair of the Membership Committee of NACAS as well as the Chair of the Auxiliary Services Association Subcommittee of the State University Business Officers Association. He has been a member and chair of the SUNYCard Project Team and Task Force. Tom was one of four founding Directors of the National Association of Campus Card Users (NACCU) as well as serving as President and Chairman of the Board for six years. Tom and his wife Robin live in Geneseo, New York. Both their sons are active customers of Higher Ed. |
Michael J. Breitner, University of Nevada - Las Vegas
| Mike Breitner is in his fifth year at UNLV and currently oversees the operation of the institution's identification card system in addition to directing technology services for the UNLV Division of Student Life. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Eastern Illinois University, Mike has worked in higher education since 1990, including positions at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD and North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND. |
Renae Brinza, University of Pittsburgh
| Renae Brinza is the administrator of the Panther Service Center at the University of Pittsburgh. Her duties include administration of the University’s Panther Card Program and all campus card systems and operations. These include card production and database functions for the main campus and the four regional campuses, the debit card program, the off-campus merchant agreement, the validation/verification program with the county transit authority and city museums. Renae has been in the campus card industry for the past six years and is an active member of NACCU. She also sits on the Advisory Panel for Blackboard Campuswide Transactions Solutions. Over the years she has coordinated the implementation of applications and made the One Card a pervasive and positive influence on campus and in the surrounding community. |
Jeanine Brooks, University of Alabama

Jeanine Brooks serves as Director of Action Card, The University of Alabama's identification and debit card program. She has worked with the card program from its initial beginning over eight years ago. The Action Card office manages over 425 online card readers utilizing a variety of applications including POS, vending, off-campus debit programs, access, laundry, web, UnipriNT, copying, video imaging and bookstore. Jeanine previously served as Assistant Director for Business Administration for the University's Telecommunication Department. Jeanine has been with the University for 15 years. |
Shirley Darr, University of Alabama
| Shirley Darr is the Marketing Director for Auxiliary Services and Support Services at the University of Alabama. She has been at The University for 17 years, in marketing positions for Housing and Residential Life and Student Affairs before taking on her current position in Auxiliary Services and Support Services. Shirley has been a presenter on marketing in higher education topics at a variety of conferences and workshops. She has BS and MA degrees in Marketing from the University of Alabama. |
Heather Burlew-Hayden, The CBORD Group

Heather Burlew-Hayden is the Marketing Director for The CBORD Group, based out of Ithaca, NY. In her current role, she provides leadership in the creation of marketing materials and managing information for CBORD's sales force and clients. Prior to joining CBORD, Heather has worked in sales and marketing for several companies catering to the college and university and Fortune 1000 markets, including Inacom Information Systems, and Tickets.com. Heather graduated from Cortland State University with a degree in political science. She founded the Alpha Phi (Eta Tau) chapter at Cortland State, which is a philanthropic sorority for the American Heart Association. Heather is also a member of the American Marketing Association. In her spare time, Heather loves to travel with her husband Bill. She enjoys cooking, arranging flowers, reading, and learning about web designing. |
David Cardoza, Brown University
| At Brown University since December of 1997, David Cardoza has effectively streamlined the campus-wide access control and security system. His previous experience as the security vendor’s project manager at Brown, as well as his 25+ years experience in computer technologies, enabled him to bring a hands-on management and organizational style to the project. While working for one of New England’s premier Security Installers, MAC Systems Inc, his previous campus installation experience includes installations at Harvard University, MIT, Harvard Business School and Bentley College. David currently resides with his wife and four children in Acushnet, Massachusetts, home of the Titleist golf ball. |
Robert LaVigne, Brown University

With over 17
years in Facilities Management, Robert LaVigne is currently the Manager
of Structural Trades for the Department of Facilities Management at
Brown University. He is
responsible for the day-to-day management of all
structural/architectural aspect of Brown’s 232 buildings.
In addition to being the original Project Manager for the campus
wide residential access control project, he is also responsible for the
oversight and maintenance of the University’s key and access control
systems. He earned his BS
in Business Administration at the University of Rhode Island and
currently working on an MBA at Johnson and Wales University.
He is resides in Lincoln RI with his wife and two sons.

Dennis is a long time participant in the plastic card industry. He has been at the
technological helm of Caulastics for the past 15 years leading the company in its
groundbreaking work in composite card formulation and contactless card manufacturing. He has served as consultant to prime contractors in international voter ID projects and domestic drivers license programs. Mr. Caulley has worked with numerous high tech companies in the development of card based auto ID technologies including the first release of two dimensional bar codes on plastic cards and the packaging of surface acoustical wave technology for high speed, long distance vehicle ID tags. Mr. Caulley continues to stay technologically active in the plastic card industry, and is currently a chairperson of the Application Profiles subcommittee of the ANSI Card Durability Service Life Task Force. Dennis was also a founding member of the NACCU Card Study. Mr. Caulley received his degree from Antioch West University in Mathematics and Education, but did the great majority of his undergraduate work at Santa Clara University in mathematics and chemistry. He initially worked in education in the Bay Area before entering the printing and card manufacturing industries. He lives just outside of Redmond, WA with his wife and three children. |
Paul Lawrence, DuPont Teijin Films

Paul
Lawrence was appointed Application Development Scientist for DuPont
Teijin Films in June 1999. Paul
is responsible for Cards Application Technical Support and New Product
Development with customers throughout Europe and Asia Pacific. On joining ICI Advanced Materials in 1987 Paul worked in research
and development for Victrex , Composite Structures and later for ICI
Melinex® Polyester Films, working on novel coextruded biaxially drawn
polyester films. In 1996
Paul was appointed Senior Research Scientist and began working solely on
laminated cards. Since then
Paul has worked on several National card projects worldwide, which have
varied in application from road toll systems to national ID.
As a member of the ICMA ( International Card Manufacturers
Association ) Paul is also presenting a paper in Munich Feb 5-6th on the
use of Polyesters in laminated cards. Paul lives in the north east of the United Kingdom, and his
interests include soccer, badminton and he has followed the New England
Patriots for the last 20 years. |

Tom
Barlow is the Director of Auxiliary Services and Risk Insurance Manager
at Xavier University where he has been employed for the past 18 years.
His position includes the development and management of
Xavier’s Musketeer All Card program. He is a member of NACCU, NACAS, NACUBO and URMIA.
He serves as a member of the Board of Directors for NACCU.
He
has worked in higher education since 1978 after completing his MFA
degree at Southern Illinois University.
He has retained faculty or administrative positions at Northern
Kentucky University, Cincinnati Academy of Art and Xavier University. Mr.
Barlow has provided a variety of management and card technology programs
for NACCU, NACUBO, NACAS, American Association of Collegiate Registrars
and Admissions Officers and Association of College and University
Telecommunications Administrators.
He has directly assisted many educational, corporate and federal
institutions with the comprehension and implementation of card
applications. |

Fred Chernow is the founder and president of Chernow Communications, Inc. D.B.A. C-COM is a reseller of Long Distance Telephone Services. Its customer base includes businesses, residents and students. Products include outbound and inbound long distance calling cards prepaid cards, international callback and international calling cards supported by International Toll Free Service. Its primary carrier is Wiltel, but it also uses AT&T, MCI, National Network and Frontier. The corporation owns a tandem switch located in downtown Denver. It also leases time on a second tandem switch. Fred has over 25 years experience in the
telecommunications industry. Fred has published over 20 papers for refereed
journals and given invited papers and lectures throughout the world. He
was selected to head the first Symposium on Ion Implantation between the
U.S. and Japan, and was invited to lecture in China. He also headed the
International Committee on Ion Implantation. He received his Ph.D., Physics, New York University, NYC, 1960 and B.A. Physics, Brooklyn College, NYC, 1955. |
| As a founding partner of AVISIAN, Chris is utilizing his
experience in advanced card technologies to assist corporate, higher education,
government, and financial clients. The company focuses on strategic planning, implementation, and marketing projects related to card and
identification technologies. Prior to founding AVISIAN, Chris served as Director of Marketing for
CyberMark. He was an early team member at Florida State's Card Application Technology Center. As a technology analyst for Florida¹s Legislative Information Technology Committee, Chris advised state agencies on card, biometric, and kiosk technologies. Chris holds a bachelor and masters degree in Information Technology Marketing and has completed all coursework for a Ph.D. in Communication. In the mid 1990's, Chris wrote and published Campus ID Report. Today, he is editor of CR80News (www.CR80News.com), an electronic newsletter focused on the implementation of campus card systems. |
Duke Divine, Washburn University
| Duke Divine is the director of Washburn University’s Memorial Union
operations, which include the student center, bookstore, dining
services, vending, concessions, and the iCard system.
Divine started at Washburn 20 years ago in student activities and
has spent most of his career in the student union, except for one brief
term as the University’s purchasing agent.
In 1994 he managed the implementation of Washburn’s first
card-based declining balance debit program, and in 2001 oversaw the
replacement and expansion of that program.
The new iCard can be used for dining services, bookstore,
printing, theater and athletics tickets, libraries, police, registrar,
and limited off-line access. |
Janel Rutherford, Washburn University

Janel Rutherford is the Assistant Director of Memorial Union Operations for Washburn University in Topeka, KS. She serves as the administrator of the “iCard” for Washburn. Janel has been with the University for 9 years, first as the assistant director for dining services, then the director of dining service where she worked with a campus card system from Missouri Book Systems ( MBS). That card was used strictly for the residence hall declining balance food contract. Janel then moved into her current position to serve as the project coordinator for the evaluation, selection, installation and training of Washburn’s current campus card system,which is a true “one card” system for the University. |
Gayla Sarkesian, Washburn University
| Gayla Sarkesian is the office Manager for the Ichabod Service Center. She has been with the University 17 years, most of which was spent in the Memorial Union Administration Office. Her duties included managing the MBS declining balance system. With the installation of the new one card system in July 2001, Gayla took over management of the new card office. |
Matthew Drummond, Clemson University
| Matthew Drummond is the Program Administrator of the Tiger 1 Card Office at
Clemson University. He has been with the Tiger 1 Card Office since 1994.
He began as a student worker working his way up as a Graduate Assistant and
is now in charge of the operation. Drummond has also served as the University’s Purchase Card Program Administrator working with various
departments around campus to reduce the use of paperwork for small dollar purchases. Drummond received his BA in English from Clemson in 1993 and his Masters in Education Counseling, Student Affairs from Clemson in 1997. He contributes his success to the late Bill Kilgore. “Bill took a chance on me and believed in me that I could do great things at Clemson. When I look around at what we have accomplished in the last couple of years here, I think he would be very proud.” |
Frederick Emery, Hofstra University

Frederick Emery is presently the Director of HofstraCard Services at Hofstra University. He has been with Hofstra University since 1993 and has worked with card technology since 1995 when he implemented the General Meters Corporation University Onecard System at Hofstra University. Since the initial implementation the card program at Hofstra has grown to include card production, dining services, bookstore financial services, vending, general debit functions, event management, student validation, door access and equipment rental. Fred has served as President of the General Meters User Group and twice as the GMC User Conference Coordinator. |
David Siegel, Emory University
| David Siegel
has been the Director of EmoryCard Services since 1994.
He previously worked as a Sales and Marketing representative for
General Meters Corporation from 1983 to 1994. From 1973 to 1981, David
was the Southern Regional VP, Professional Air Traffic Controllers
Organization, and before that he was an Air Traffic Controller. |
Doug Vanderpoel, Mount Holyoke College

As Systems Manager for Mount Holyoke College Dining Services, Doug has a
broad range of responsibilities that include Dining Services, Card Services, and Telephone Services. As Operations Manager for the
All-Campus Card/ ID System, he is responsible for all implementation, system maintenance, budgeting, marketing, program development, as well
as daily Card Services Office operations. In Dining Services, Doug provides the oversight for the
menu management system, which includes system administration, maintenance, and training as well as general IT
support for the department. Doug recently assumed the responsibility for
telecomm (phone and cable) IT support and supervision.
Because of the successful implementation of the Dining Services menu management system, Doug was asked to oversee the implementation of the All-Campus Card /ID System. Since its initial implementation in 1998, the All-Campus-Card System has grown exponentially and continues to be an integral part of future planning and renovations. |
| Al Gilligan currently serves as the Vice President of Customer
Relations for Cybermark. Al was the Director of Business/Auxiliary Services for Florida State University prior to joining CyberMark's team. He developed much of the business strategy for the University's Card Application Technology Center (CATC) and facilitated the Center's transition to CyberMark. Al has presented card technology at numerous conferences including the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), National Association of Campus Auxiliary Services (NACAS), the Association of College and University Telecommunication Administrators (ACUTA) and the National Association of Campus Card Users (NACCU). Applying his eighteen plus years of university experience and card application knowledge, Al is uniquely qualified to work with institutions of higher learning in developing optimal technology choices and associated financial and marketing strategies. As the lead visionary for CyberMark, Bill Norwood is once again reshaping the campus card industry. In the mid-1980s, Bill utilized his 30-plus years of university management information systems experience to identify a plan which would ultimately move Florida State University to the cutting edge of card-based technology. His FSUCard became a model for campuses worldwide. In early 1994, he established the Card Application Technology Center (CATC) at FSU, and subsequently served as its executive director for three years. It was during these years that Bill and his assembled team assisted in program implementations at more than 200 institutions. Concurrently, he guided the design of the new smart card-based FSUCard. In early 1997, Bill and his team left the CATC to help guide smart card efforts for CyberMark, a newly-formed Ohio-based company. In his first year as V.P. of New Business Development with CyberMark, he helped the company to achieve an industry-leading position with 15 campus smart card installations. He was recently named Vice Chairman of the Board for CyberMark. Bill was a founding member of the National Association of Campus Card Users (NACCU), served on the board of directors for CUMREC, and is a frequent speaker at CardTech/SecurTech and other higher education and card technology conferences. As the Vice President of Sales for Higher One, Walter Hinckfoot relies on his previous experience in Higher Education and strong leadership skills to deliver the company’s innovative banking service. Higher One’s success stems from a unique business proposition, combined with building relationships at various levels of the university. Walter’s success is built upon 20 years experience in front line Sales, Sales Management and Sales Training with both Xerox and AT&T. Walter joined Higher One in February 2001, and brings 7 years experience in Higher Education. He currently serves on the Exhibitor Advisory Board for NACUBO, and is proud of the Gold Membership Higher One has with NACCU. Walter earned his Bachelors degree at Central Michigan University, and his Masters in Business Administrative at Nova Southeastern University. Deb Hoefer, Mesa State College
| Deb is currently the Assistant College Center Director at Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colorado. She has been at MSC since July 1995. Since 1997, she has been devoted to marketing and developing the MSC campus ID program. The original card system was introduced to the campus in the fall of 1995. In January 2001 MSC implemented their 2nd card system building off of what had been started in 1995. The card has gained acceptance across campus and the number of applications associated with the card has increased to include the addition of several meal plan options, the ability to use the card in the bookstore as well as other venues on campus including the library, Outdoor Program, the business office and recreation center. The system also includes door access in the residence halls, campus offices and classrooms. As the card system continues to grow, the ID program is challenged to keep up with the needs of the campus community. Deb graduated from the University of Denver with a BSBA in Management. |

Kathleen Kelly, Carleton University

University has over 18,000 students and 3000 faculty/staff and has earned itself a reputation as being one of
the foremost Universities in the country in the fields of public
affairs, management and high technology. Kathleen joined the University in 1993 and is responsible for the coordination of the Campus Card operations including the day to day operations, staffing, marketing, accounting and pursuance of future visions and goals for the Campus Card. Prior to joining the Campus Card department, she was a buyer at the University Bookstore and Purchasing department. Kathleen brings with her an extensive background in the retailing and merchandising industry. |
Jeff Koziol, Locknetics Security Engineering
| Jeff Koziol is a marketing manager within the Security & Safety sector of IR (Ingersoll-Rand). He is responsible for software managed access control products within the sector including the Schlage, Von Duprin, Recognition Systems and Locknetics brands. Jeff has held various business assignments within IR during his 10-year career and has an engineering degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Masters in Business Administration degree from Rensellaer Polytechnic Institute. He resides in Westfield, Massachusetts. |
Kevin Krause, Cherry Electrical Products

Kevin Krause, a long-term industry
partner of NACCU, has been the sales manger for the past eight years at
Cherry Electrical Products, focused on selling specialized keyboard
products to many vertical markets, which include the educational market.
His expertise, have been centered on the ever increasing need for
security products in each of these verticals.
For the past three years, Krause has come together with industry
partners to bring products such as biometrics and smart card to address
the need for better authentication to several campuses.
In his efforts, working with these
campuses, Krause has developed an understanding of some of the hurdles
and roadblocks, of crossing over to a much more secure environment,
using several different campus card solutions.
In light of these challenges, the current available technology,
and Mr. Krause’s background, will help provide the answer to many of
these difficult questions and concerns. Mr. Krause, a graduate of Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, currently resides in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin with his Wife, and three children. |
David Looney, University of Florida
| David Looney has worked in the Campus Id Card field for over 17 years. He played a lead role in developing the ScanPlus system for ARAMARK where he was responsible for installations at over 200 colleges, universities, businesses and hospitals in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. As a consultant in the field, he has provided custom solutions for Magstripe and Smart Card based access systems. He headed a taskforce to review the ID Card program at the University of Florida where he manages the Gator 1 Card program. David is also completing coursework toward a Master’s Degree in Decision Information Sciences. |

John McCloskey, University of San Diego

McCloskey is the Manager of Campus Card Services at the University of
San Diego. USD is a private
Roman Catholic Institution located on 180 acres overlooking San
Diego’s Mission Bay. John
has managed the Campus Card program at USD since its inception in 1999.
He has continued to develop the program which now includes the
administration of the CampusCash
pre-paid services plan, the sale of university meal plans, the sale and
distribution of parking permits, distribution of university
identification cards, administration of the TESA door lock system and
the Pinnacle Student Telephone Resale system.
Formerly, he was the Assistant Bursar and the Loan Collections
Manager at USD. He
previously served as Secretary for The California College and University
Loan Administrator’s Association (CCULAA), practiced Respiratory
Therapy at numerous east coast hospitals, and was the Credential’s
Coordinator and Academic Advisor for Evening College at Drexel
University in Philadelphia, PA. He
has also taught first grade, has had a private practice in
Psychotherapy, and currently does Personal and Professional Consulting
to individuals and organizations. John holds a B.S. in Mental Health Technology from Hahnemmann University, a M.S. in the Science of Instruction from Drexel University, and is currently completing course requirements for a doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of San Diego. |
Scott Milman, University of North Carolina at Greensboro
| Scott Milman is currently the Director of Spartan Services at UNCG, with operational responsibility over the UNCG FirstCard Center and Postal Services. Joining the University in 1997, he
directed Housing & Residence Life’s ResNet prgram before coming to the FirstCard Center. Scott earned a BA from Rhodes College in 1993 and MS in Counseling from UNCG in 1996. “You’d be surprised how far a counseling degree will go when you’re dealing with a One Card program.” |
Joseph Dix, University of North Carolina at Greensboro

Joseph Dix is the Marketing Coordinator of Business & Auxiliary Services at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Joseph, also a former graduate of UNCG, is responsible for brainstorming, implementing and evaluating marketing projects directed at UNCG students, faculty and staff. Most recently, Joseph assisted with the rollout of a successful partnership between Wachovia Bank and the UNCG FirstCard. Joseph earned his BA in Communication Studies with a concentration in Public Relations from UNCG in 1996. Sara Neer, Wright State University
| Sara Neer has been with Wright State University since 1992, when she started pursuing her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She started her career with the food service provider as a cashier and worked her way up to Student Assistant Accounts Payable Secretary where she was responsible for all Meal Plans on campus. In 1995, the food service company ended its relationship with Wright State and a new company took over, during this time frame the meal plan program was sold to the university. In 1996 Sara was offered a job with the University to expand the Meal Plan program into a 1 card program. In 1997, Sara graduated and was then chosen from other applicants to be the Wright 1 Card System Administrator. This was/is a new position on campus. In 1998 Sara coordinated the efforts to switch 1 card software provider via Request for Proposal. While she has been at Wright State the Meal Plan system has grown into a 1 Card system that has over 1.5 million dollars a year in sales - excluding the Meal Plan. Sara presented at the 1999 National Association of Campus Card User's Conference in Orlando, she also presented at the 2001 User's conference for Blackboard (formally AT&T CampusWide). |
Charles Perkins, Illinois State University
| Chuck has been the accountant in the Redbird Card Office for the past 3 years. The office has operated a one-card system for 6 years as an on campus ID, access and payment card. There are currently 21,000 student and 3000 faculty/staff cards in use. Last year the card debit transactions totaled almost $800,000. Along with our debit account our meal plans had almost $8,000,000 of transactions. Chuck’s responsibilities include the reconciliation of the debit account, payment to the 27 on campus vendors for card transactions, processing refunds and processing all deposits to the debit account. Before joining the staff at Illinois State, Chuck spent 20 years in the banking industry as an auditor. He holds a B.S. in accounting and an advanced degree in bank management. Future plans for the office include WEB access to accounts with credit card deposits and adding off-campus vendors to the system. |

Kevin Pickhardt is the Chief Executive Officer of Pharos Systems, Inc. Kevin joined Pharos Systems as CEO in 2001. Based in Rochester, New York with offices in Auckland, New Zealand, Pharos Systems provides print accounting and control software to Universities, Public Libraries and Corporations in 48 states and 15 countries. Prior
to joining Pharos, Kevin was Vice President and General Manager of
Education Industry Solutions at Xerox Corporation. He was with Xerox
Corporation for 17 years and held management and leadership positions
within Brand Management, Business Strategy, Marketing, Finance and
Information Management functions. Kevin
has spoken extensively in the document management and technology market
at conferences and symposia throughout North America and in Europe –
including: XPLOR; DMIA; ConTEXT; CUMREC ’98; DocuWorld; TechED 2000
and others. Outside of Xerox, Kevin is an Executive Member and
Chairperson of the Simon School of Business Alumni Advisory Council, a
member of the Document Management Industries Association, and a past
member of the American Pricing Association. He is also a Certified
Document Imaging Architect. Kevin has a Masters in Business Administration from
the Simon School at the University of Rochester and a degree in Computer
Science from Brown University. Kevin has been published in Graphic Arts
Monthly, The Fourth Dimension by Thomas Banchoff, and Scientific
American for his work in Graphics Imaging. Kevin is married with two daughters and lives in Rochester, New York. |
Marc Belanger, Marquette University
| Marc is currently the Campus Card Services Manager at Marquette University
in Milwaukee, WI. He has been at Marquette since February 1997 when the
university decided to expand their previous campus card system beyond meal
plans, libraries, and activities to include laundry, vending, point of sale, photocopying, off-campus merchants, and network print management -
just to name a few. He is responsible for all aspects of the campus card
program and enjoys the challenge of working with so many different departments. Prior to Marquette, Marc worked for 5 years in the card
office at DePaul University in various capacities including Office Assistant, Technician, and Systems Analyst. Marc is currently a member of Blackboard's Commerce and Access User's Advisory board and has been a member of NACCU since 1995. He is pursuing his Masters degree in Business Administration from Marquette and in his spare time he enjoys golfing, scuba diving, and motorcycling. |
John Pietrantoni, Student Advantage
| John Pietrantoni is the National Sales Director for Student Advantage INC. John's team is responsible for the implementation of SA Cash, currently in place at seventeen (17) campuses across the country. Prior to joining Student Advantage, John worked for AT&T CampusWide as a Sales Specialists in the Southeast area. Prior to joining the higher education marketplace, John worked for Healthsouth Corporation in Mergers and Acquisitions and Coca-Cola USA in a variety of Sales and Marketing positions. Joseph Lorenzo Poole is the Associate Director of Card Services for St. John’s University. He is responsible for the development and implementation of the university’s Card program. The StormCard reaches out into the campus community in various aspects such as meal plans, declining balances, campus access, building access, room access, copiers, laser printing, microfiche, library, laundry and vending. Prior to going to St. John’s Joseph was the Assistant Director of Security \Colby Card System Manager at Colby College. He is a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a Certified Security Systems Manager. |
| Peter Rivera has been in the high technology business since 1973. Joining Diebold, Incorporated in April, 1994. First as a member of the Advanced Card Systems division where he was instrumental in positioning the company in some of the first and largest smart chip card programs in the United States. Notably, with two pro football teams, the Jacksonville Jaguars and Carolina Panthers plus the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. As the Director of Sales for the Eastern Region of the Card Systems division at Diebold their mission is to deliver fourth generation solutions to colleges and universities for meal plan management, access & security control, on campus debit programs and entitlement verification. Solutions that deliver technological, financial and sociological advances to the approximate 350 Diebold customers. |

Cindy manages and coordinates the complex process of responding to nearly 100 requests for proposals from colleges, universities and other organizations each year. She reviews and responds to proposal requirements, gathering information from many sources while working with CBORD's business partners to provide the best possible solutions for prospective clients. Cindy's previous experience providing administrative support for CBORD’s support and development staff, in addition to years in computer and POS operations, has enabled her to bring valuable knowledge to her position. As a senior member of the sales team at CBORD, Cindy has also been involved in many other departmental projects, including development of a software tool to generate sales quotes, supervising the helpdesk database, and management of POS maintenance agreements. In 1979, Cindy earned a bachelor's degree in anthropology and French from Eisenhower College in Seneca Falls, New York. During her undergraduate career, she spent a year in France studying the French language and culture. Cindy pursued graduate studies in business administration and has earned a certificate in paralegal studies. Cindy spent twenty years in retail operations as store manager, computer systems manager, technical writer and database supervisor. Before moving to Ithaca, New York and joining CBORD, Cindy was a paralegal for a Connecticut law firm. |
Danny Smith, ColorID

Danny Smith is a Partner and Executive Vice President of ColorID,
LLC. Previous to ColorID, Danny was President and Owner of a
sales and marketing company. In Danny's role at ColorID, he has developed working relationships
with Campus Card Offices from coast to coast. Danny brings up-to-date,
first-hand knowledge of Campus Cards Systems based on the over 50
Universities he visited in 2001. He recently worked on the
successful ColorID ID system installation at University
of Notre Dame. Danny brings
a wealth of knowledge in the area printer selection, pre-printed cards
& their design. Danny has been a very active member of NACUU since 1999. |
Homer Tedder, Florida State University
| Homer Tedder is the Director of Technical Services for the Card Application Technology Center
(C.A.T.C.) at Florida State University. Homer is responsible for both hardware
and software services for the FSUCard Center and the CATC, and serves as an advisor to other universities regarding ID Card issues. With a background in mainframe and PC applications, he was one of the founding team members of the Card Application Technology Center. He has been with Florida State University for 25 years, and has been working in the ID Card applications development area since 1990. He has been involved in all aspects of ID Card applications, from design, development, testing, and implementation. From 1994 to date, he has assisted or coordinated the ID card integration/implementation strategies for over 125 institutions across the country. His efforts in defining and developing new strategies and technologies for ID Card systems has helped refine basic university applications such as Library, Dining, Security and Photo Class Rosters from stand-alone systems to card based integrated technologies. He is a graduate of Florida State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. |
Stu Warford, Pepperdine University

Since 1993, Stu Warford has served as the director of telecommunications for Pepperdine University, an independent, Christian, liberal arts university located in Malibu, California. Prior to that time, Warford served in various roles including Financial Systems Analyst, Assistant Registrar, and manager of the University Credit Union. As Telecommunications Director, Warford has responsibilities for the voice, data, billing, and card services components for the university, including six educational centers in the Greater Los Angeles area, and four major international sites. Warford is active in many professional and church-related activities, has authored articles that have been published by NACCU, EDUCAUSE, and ACUTA, and has recently completed a three-year term on EDUCAUSE’s Network Awards Committee. |
Jim Wayman, U.S. Biometrics Test Center/San Jose State University
| Jim Wayman, Ph.D. is the Director of Biometric Identification Research at San
Jose State University in San Jose, California. San Jose State is under
contract to the U.S. and U.K. governments to advise them on the use or non-use of biometric identification devices. Dr. Wayman received his Ph.D. degree in Engineering from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1980, and joined the faculty of the Department of Mathematics at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in 1981. His early work was in acoustics and speaker recognition. In 1986, he became a full-time researcher for the Department of Defense in the areas of technical security and biometrics. Under contract to the DoD, he invented and developed a biometric system based on the acoustic resonances of the human head. He holds three patents in speech processing and is the author of dozens of articles in technical journals and conference proceedings on biometrics, speech compression, acoustics and network control. In addition to directing the Test Center, he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in biometric identification at San Jose State University. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. |
Jennifer Webb, Magic Communications
| Jennifer Webb is an internationally recognized motivational speaker, author

Ryan Webb, University of Illinois - Springfield
| Ryan started in campus card programs in 1992 at Colorado
College. In 1997, she took over management of the Gold Card Office at Colorado College. In July of 2001, Ryan became the ID Center Manager at the University of Illinois at Springfield. She has worked with CBORD Access 5, CBORD Omni Access, Diebold CS Gold, Datacard Quickworks and ID Works, Simplex Door Access She graduated cum laude with her Bachelor of Arts in History
from the University of Colorado in 1991. In 1998, she

Read Winkleman, The CBORD Group
| Read is responsible for managing the college and university sales efforts within
Communicating Systems Division. Read's sales team in higher education is responsible
for privilege control systems, housing management systems, and conference management systems. Before coming to CBORD, Read spent three years in residential life at Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He was responsible for the management of two residence halls and seven language houses. Read also helped rewrite the room assignment process for the college. While at Macalester, Read was a member of several higher-education professional associations including UMR-ACUHO, MCPA, and ATCCHA. Read earned his BA in political science from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, where he also served as a resident assistant and captain of the club hockey team. He is an active alumnus, participating both in Alumni Affairs events and the Alumni Annual Fund campaigns. Carleton College is currently an OmniACCESS client. Read is a home brewer of beer and has been an ice hockey player since youth. |
Dale Witenhafer, Arizona State University

Dale Witenhafer is Campus Card Manager at Arizona State University (ASU), a position he has held for the past 5 years. Prior to that he served as Debit Card Administrator at Texas A&M University for 4 years. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Accounting from the University of Akron and an M.B.A. from Texas A&M University. Dale started the campus card program at ASU from scratch in 1997. This included carding 60,000 students and employees, opening and staffing the card office, moving existing meal plans to the new one-card platform, establishing a new “flexible spending” debit account for use on and off campus, and building a door access system. He is currently responsible for all aspects of the card program including marketing, budgeting, office management, merchant relationships, etc. ASU currently has over 300 on-line card readers, more than 30 off campus locations, and the card system processes about $9 million worth of financial transactions each year. Dale was a charter member of NACCU in 1994 and has attended every Annual Conference since. He has presented several times at the Blackboard annual user’s conference (CUCON). |
