QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience and/or education equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in an information technology field.
2. Experience with Windows 2000 & 2003 for servers, Windows XP, and Macintosh OSX; LANs; networking software, databases and Excel spreadsheets; campus ID card and access systems; POS systems; and Windows-based networks, firewalls, and virus protection. Experience with Odyssey,
Micros, WAPAC and/or ID Works preferred.
3. Experience trouble-shooting hardware and software.
4. Proven customer service skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks of varying priority on a regular basis. Strong organizational skills.
5. Detailed record-keeping with the ability to track transactions and find errors in daily reports.
6. Research skills. Quick learner with an inquisitive mind.
7. Good oral and written communication skills. Able to explain technical terms and concepts in ways non-technical people can understand and respond to. Ability to communicate effectively via the phone; understand and carry out verbal instructions of a technical nature.
8. Experience working in a post-secondary institution helpful. Ability to deal effectively with faculty, staff, students, contractors and campus visitors.
9. Supervisory experience preferred.
10. Ability to prioritize work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintain and manage card service programs and databases (i.e. Odyssey, Micros and ID Works) for College community and conference attendees. Utilize and maintain required proprietary software packages. Program and maintain all hardware, including servers, cash registers and card readers.
2. Provide and model excellent front-line customer service to students, staff, faculty, alumni, guests/visitors, and contractors while creating campus ID using ID Works.
3. Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports for Bon Appetit, Residential Life database, Campus Center and Business Office, analyzing patterns of activity, etc., utilizing Excel, File Maker Pro and card service database. Assist in reconciliation of campus billing for food service participations.
4. Respond to changes with ID cards and meal plans; coordinate with Residential Life for pre-season, post-season, summer and other specific times for meal program participation. Coordinate and market Commuter 75 Plan for off-campus/non-board students. Deal directly with members of the Macalester community and guests regarding concerns/problems with ID cards and meal plans.
5. Work with IT to maintain network connection. Assist in policy development. Research and develop innovative programs which serve the Macalester community.
6. Coordinate Banner use, training and development for Campus Center and Campus Life.
7. Assist and support Residential Life in maintaining their databases. Assist Residential Life’s Operation Manager in collecting and creating lists needed throughout the year to make meal plan changes for pre-season, January housing, Senior Week and summer. Assist with data entry during these periods.
Research, secure funding and implement a more user-friendly and efficient housing software package
that interfaces with SCT Banner/Sungard.
8. Collaborate with Security on maintaining WAPAC and Campus Center security cameras. Assist in research, securing funding, and implementing a keyless entry system for campus.
9. Negotiate maintenance contracts on technology-based hardware and software.
10. Available to respond to down systems on evenings and weekends, as needed. Available to work outside normal business hours during meal plan transition periods, Move-In, Orientation, Midnight Breakfast, campus-wide picnics, special events, etc. requiring card service support.
11. Provide back up support for Campus Center and Campus Life reception area and student employees.
12. Other duties as assigned.
This position reports to the Director of Campus Center & Conferences.
